I-130 process

Post Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:40 pm

Hello,

My husband, an American, and I have an appointment with our local USA consulate next week to submit an I-130. I am Canadian. We both reside in Calgary and he has permanent residency here.

However, I have questions if anyone can help.

Do I have to have a medical exam if approved and do I have to have an interview if approved? If so, do I have to have the interview in Montreal?

Thanks for any help.

yes u will have to have a medical by an approved immigration official, not that many in canada! Vancouver, toronto and Montreal I believe are the only options for the MEDICAL!! Ur interview wil be in Montreal! All thuis info and way more can be found on visajourney.com check out the DCF forum (what ur doing--direct consular filing) and the CANADA forum.

a pain, lol oh ya! But don't complain to much as DCF'ing is much faster than the normal I-130 process! U wil find timeframes on VJ! I think 3-5 months is the average time from start to finish. While the normal I-130 time frame is close to a yr or longer!! AS well ensure u check out the CANADA section as Montreal does have some domicile issues with people DCFing!! Some have been delayed in obtaining the visa as the USA spouse hasnt shown strong proof that they (the couple) are moving to the USA) Yep they want proof that ur moving! What some have had to do is the USA spouse move to the USA before Mtl would issue the visa! Sort of weird and frustrating! So you will see a whole topic on that.

friendly bunch in the canada forum! There is a section on the mainboard called OFF TOPIC, well lets just say it can get pretty rude on there!! Most of us canucks just post in the Canada section!!

VJ pretty much has everything u need and more! Look at the top and u will see Examples of already filled out forms!

Best of luck
