I got a job offer

Post Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:15 am

Hi:
I got a job offer in US and I have two questions before applying for the TN visa:
1- I'm Canadian and also my wife, but my children are not Canadian yet. We are in the process to get the Canadian citizenship. Could I have problems obtaining the TD visa for them?
2- Do I need to bring my family to the border the day when I will apply for the TN visa?

Thanks,
JT

As far as getting the TD visa for your dependents - they don't need to be canadian citizens.

However, you should check Canadian laws as to whether they can leave the country when they are in the process of receiving their citizenship.

They can't obtain TD status at the border since they're not Canadian citizens. They need to process a TD visa at a U.S. consulate or embassy in Canada, once you obtain TN-1 status at the border.

Best of luck.
