I have a TN Visa - okay to fly from Island Airport?

Postby Mxg » Tue Apr 28, 2009 1:53 pm

Hi. I'm doing some work for a client in New York. I live in Toronto.

When I flew out, a couple of weeks ago, I flew from Pearson Airport, where I applied (successfully) for a TN visa. I flew from Pearson rather than Island airport because it makes more sense to apply for a visa that way.

Now that I *have* the visa, is there any reason not to fly from Island airport? In general, I prefer to fly from Island Airport, but I'll avoid it if it's likely to cause me any border hassles...

It doesn't matter where you fly into or from. The only thing about the Island Airport is that it doesn't have US border preclearance facilities like Pearson does, so you clear customs at Newark Airport rather than in Toronto. In the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, but I find the lines at Newark Airport tend to be longer than those at Pearson (at least T3 -- T1 lines always seem pretty long).
