Hi, everyone,
Can anyone tell me what the best approach is to secure a visa for working and living in Canada for my husband who is German. We live in the Netherlands (and want to get out as soon as possible). As people probably know, it is not possible to speak with a human being at the Canadian immigration offices, including at the embassies abroad, unless you go to them personally.
My question is this:
My husband is German, I am Canadian. We would like to move to Canada and wonder which way to go regarding immigration--the Federal Skilled Worker program, or the spouse sponsorship program.
My husband is a scientist, has a good education, but no job offer in Canada yet. The point system yielded 86 on the self-test, but there is a cap on applications so we have no way of knowing if he would get the visa quickly or not.
To sponsor him, I understand that I have to have an income to support him for three years, and I do not. I have a property, but would not have an income right off the bat.
Finally, would a firm job offer for him make a difference? (There is a possibility of this)
What should we do? Any help greatly appreciated.
Bartoka
