Import a Canadian car already in the US?

Me and my wife are in the US on TN visas for now, we recently purchased a car off of a friend who was down here to visit us in California. He flew home and left the car here. I'm hoping we can goto a customs somewhere in California and import it. Anyone have experience with this? I know most people import when they come across so I'm lost on this one.

The process for importing the car while In US is to go to a Port of Enrty (airport or port) and import it. The paperwork and requirements should be the same as if you had done this while crossing the border.
