Info Needed To Help Me Move To Maui

Post Fri Feb 26, 2010 10:13 am

I've recently decided to move to Maui, but all I see is a lot of hurdles & confusion. I am not a professional by any means so a TN Visa doesn't seem the right way. I'm just a regular canuck looking to live & work in Maui. Can someone provide me the steps that I can move forward with?
Can it be that hard for a single guy to do this? Should I give up? Help!

You can't just move. You need to either get a degree and professional sponsor for job or get married to a US citizen.

Maui is part of the United States, see. So you just can't move to Maui.

That's what is know as illegal immigration.

That much I do understand. My question I'm putting out there is what is the best way? What is best to get 1st, a job offer or a visa? Can one go there & look for work then get a visa? When is the right timing if i want to buy a place?

Really? Not from the rest of your response.

You are not eligible for any work visa in US. You said so your self. Going and looking for work when you are not eligible for a work visa is a waste of your and the prospective employer's time.

So the best way to get to live in Maui, as aI said, was to get a degree or get married to a uS citizen.

Whne you are leagally allowed to live and work in US, then you can think about buyinga house there.

Again, Maui is not in canada. You have no right to live there. You ceratinly have no right to work there.

That is quite the response..... I "actually" did not say that I wasn't eligible for a visa but a TN Nafta visa.
I never expressed that I had a right to work "or" live there. I just want to.
I'm not confident that you'll will be any help, so please do not reply to any more questions from me.
I'm looking for help, nothing anything resembling to what you offer.

I'm sorry but as harsh as agnelson's reply may appear, he is absolutely right. There is NO WAY to move to the US unless you are married to a US citizen or eligible for a TN or H1 visa, which you said you are not. No one can sponsor you for a job unless you qualify for the above work visas.

If it's truly what you want to do, go to school and get a degree in a field that's eligible for a work visa.

Dont listen to lawyers who tell you they can get you in, or get you a green card. They will take your money and get you no where.
