Hi everyone,

I'm a Canadian citizen and my new employer is temporarily re-locating me to the US for several months. During this time I will be crossing the border most weekends to visit my fiance and family back home. My employer will help me with my TN visa application as well.

My question is, what kind of insurance should I get? Would travel insurance from, say, CAA be sufficient? I am officially an employee of their Canadian branch, and get paid in Canadian dollars.

Thanks in advance for your help! Any response would be greatly appreciated.

don't you have insurance through your employer now? If you do, that'll probably cover you in the US. Check with HR.

Thanks for your reply! Their Canadian branch is very new so there's no insurance coverage yet. That's why I'm exploring the travel insurance option for now.

I always used to get Blue Cross. Check out their website I guess.

Another option is CAA if you're a member.

Your provincial healthcare will also cover some services, but its a pain in the butt to get reimbursement, and they may not cover all charges. And US medical services are incredibly overpriced!

So are Canadian ones, my cousin was visiting from the UK and fell down an embankment and broke his elbow in Manitoba, his bill was ridiculous.
