I just moved to San Diego from Nova Scotia as a Permanent Resident, as my wife is American. My father in law has offered to help us buy a car as we are just starting out. Will I be able to register and get insurance with my NS licence or will have to take the test to get my California licence.
Sorry AGN, you're wrong. No need to. My ontario-licensed minivan is currently insured by Farmers. They were happy to oblige. Out of state/country plates were a non issue. Also, my Ontario dl is accepted everywhere by everyone.
The Op---Clarke--is moving to the USA, so when one is moving to the USA to live, one has a certain amount of time to get that states DL and each state differs with rules. In this case AGN was correct
