Interested in moving to Maui

Post Sun Dec 04, 2011 7:47 pm

Here is my situation,

Married, no kids, only dogs. Work as a licensed water treatment operator in Ontario, wife has a environmental Bsc and is a supervisor of a municipal environmental department. We are very new to the idea of moving/living/working in the US where I have recently found a very intriguing job. Said job being a water treatment operator for Maui county. What I dont have any clue about is what would be involvoved with moving and working in Maui? Can my wife and dogs come with me? The job ad says "You must provide evidence verifying your citizenship or alien
registration status and employment authorization in the United States at the time of application", not 100% sure what this means? How does it work if we would like to come back? Maybe it is all just a pipe dream and not worth any of the negatives that may be involved, but that is what I'm trying to figure out.... Any other tips on living working in the states are greatly appreciated!

What it means is that they are not going to sponsor any non-immigrant (H1B) or immigrant (green card) petition on your behalf, so you are not going to get this job.

Since you do not have a degree, it is unlikley that you would even qualify for a Tn. Your wife might (but I don't see a category she would fit under), and would need to convince the county that she would be responsible for getting her TN.
