International driver's permit

Post Thu Aug 26, 2004 6:00 pm

Should I get one? Do I need one? I thought I read I could use my Ontario license but now I don't know where I saw that.

It's only $15, but $$$ is tight these days.

Thoughts?

You can drive in the UK for a year on your Ontario Driver's Licence. If your licence states you can drive a standard (this must be explicitly stated on your licence), then you will be able to exchange it for a full UK driver's licence. If not, then they'll exchange your licence for one that will permit you to drive an automatic, but there aren't many of those kind of cars here, most are standard.

If you plan on driving in Europe, then get an International licence, you'll need it, at least that's my understanding.
