Hello, I am from Toronto and have lived there most of my life, though i have been nearly tip to tip in our beautiful country. at the beginning of this year i moved over here to Italy to play semi-pro hockey. I miss Canada tonnes and ppl always think i'm crazy when i tell them i moved from there to here to play hockey (sometimes i do too). My team plays in seven different countries over here and that affords me the opportunity to travel around europe with my team in our classy VW caravans. i live in a the sudtirolian area in the north of italy. it's very beautiful here, right in the mountains, but the culture is not what you expect of italy. it's half german speaking and half italian and i spoke niether before coming here(kind of like moving to Quebec with no French or english). it's been a great experience, even though at times i have struggled with having no one to talk to who really spoke my language. i've found a lot of outlets on the internet and even connected back with friends i'd been out of touch with. the thing i miss most is probably hot breakfast and timmy's. but i'm going home relatively soon so i guess i can put up with amasing pasta and pizza for a month or so more. if i have to.

Hello everyone,

Originally from France, I lived in Canada between Montreal and Toronto for the last 15 years before moving back to Europe (England) in June 2007.
In the meantime, I became a Canadian citizen and I am very proud of it! My Canadian wife moved with me and we are in Surrey.
I am very happy to see this forum because we don't see too many Canadian flags or mates in the UK streets!
I already missing a few things from Canada like smile, courteousness, open-mindedness.and Tim Hortons! Mummm doughnuts!

Au revoir

Hello, I live in the Northampton area but my real home is near Toronto. I've been in the UK for almost 5 years.

I love the weather over here and do not miss the snow (especially this year!). But Canada is my home and it's also where my parents and sister live so I miss them a lot.

I live in SW Ontario, lived in Toronto for 5 yrs while going to school. Loved Toronto but unfortunately following an amazing 4 week holiday to Italy in May I was unable to get a job in Toronto so I was forced to take a position outside of the city.

I've been dreaming of working and travelling in Europe since 2nd years uni and have never persued it. Finally got my Italian citizenship so I'm on my way! Glad to have come across this forum, been helpful. Smile

Hello, my name is Amanda and I am from Calgary. I have lived here my entire life and am ready for a change. My father is from England, a small town near York, and two summers ago I spent 5 weeks traveling through 8 cities in Europe including York. I felt like I was at home in York, I can't really explain why, but ever since going I have wanted to go back. I am hoping to be able to do this in the fall of 2009. I know it is a ways away yet, but I guess it's never too soon to start planning. Smile

I moved to Toronto from London about 2 years ago to stay with family.and I love it. Great city, very open and closer to nature.

Seems like a nice board! Laughing

Greetings!

I grew up in Calgary, did a year of high school in Seoul, South Korea but went to university in Toronto before working in Hong Kong for several years and then returned to TO. I'd been living in Toronto for the past eight years but now live in Chicago, IL., where my husband is from.

Things I miss: the CBC, Eye Weekly and Now Mag (Toronto), Banff/Canadian Rockies, shopping in Montreal and walking through the ethnic neighborhoods in downtown Toronto.

I'll take multiculturalism and a mosaic over a melting pot any day.
