Hi,

I'm Trudi, I live in Muskoka. I'm looking at finding a job in Egypt, Italy or Britain. I'm kinda of torn. (Suggestions welcome Smile

This site has been great. But I'm still finding it tough to find jobs in my field, working with people with disabilities, I guessing my best chance is at an international school or teaching english.

Hello to all!

I am British-Canadian and have been living in southern Germany the last 18 years. Now I am thinking about returning to Vancouver. My children are bi-lingual and I'd really like them to experience their Canadian roots. We've vacationed there and they just loved it but I am worried more about the fact that I will find it difficult having lived so close to France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy for so long. If any of you have advice for me, it would be more than welcome.
Other than that, I run my own company here and speak fluent German. In my free time I look after my two horses, love to ski and enjoy the outdoors that are very pretty here so close to the Black forest.

First generation Canadian born in Montreal, Quebec. My mother is Swiss & my Dad is Serbian. During the mass exodus from Quebec in the late'70's we moved to Mississauga, Ontario. Did most of my higher education in Ontario at McMaster & York University. Relocated for work to NY, NY in 1998. Met my husband while on holiday in Santorini, Greece. Our daughter was born in Manhattan on Feb 29th, 2004! Recently relocated to Athens, Greece where I work for the same company, as a Chemical Business Development Manager.

So far, I'm enjoying this website.just reading a bit about all the Canadian expats!

Hi. Born and raised in Canada. Grew up just outside of Toronto and lived in Kingston for 6 years for university. Then decided to pack up and do my PhD in Europe, in San Sebastian, Spain. Lived there for 3.5 years in total. Also lived one year in Brussels for a internship during my PhD with the company that sponsored me. After the internship I returned to San Sebastian to write my PhD. Did not get any work organized in Europe upon my departure in the fall of last year and had to VERY tearfully depart San Sebastian . Leaving there was probably harder than leaving Canada the first time.

When I got back home to Canada I responded to a job offer in Malaga, Spain and it all worked out and Im just waiting for the company sponsored work permit to arrive so I can go back. The time back in Canada has been nice but Im looking forward to leaving again and returning to Spain.

Hello Everyone!

I am a Korean born Canadian citizen, in the IT field, and looking to go abroad for my next work. Basically at this point, I am up for anything, anywhere! I am currently entertaining the thought of going to Bermuda for work, but before investing alot of time in looking into it, thought I would get first hand knowledge of the people living there now! This forum has been a great vehicle to learn about perspectives and experiences abroad. Look forward to my next move!

Hi my name is Winston. I am a writer, traveler, actor and truth seeker. My main passions in life are traveling, writing, acting, metaphysics, and beautiful things.

I live here in the Philippines now. I hope I am not required to politically correct here. The reason I came here from North America was because my love life, social life, and psychological self-esteem are a trillion times higher than in North America, where I am excluded from all the cool cliques and thus can't have fun or meet people naturally.

Overseas I never have a problem, making friends and dating attractive women comes naturally and smoothly, as though it were part of the natural order of things.

So far it's been the best decision of my life as my needs are fulfilled here and the three factors above are reversed and I have what I want in abundance. And best of all I've been validated by going abroad by discovering that the problem was NOT me all along.

Many people I know feel this way, but they are afraid to speak up on forums like this for fear of looking like a loser and the stigma that anyone who doesn't fit in must be the problem.

That's the truth. Sorry if it offends some.

Now I run a unique expatriate site at HappierAbroad . com. It is unique because unlike other expat sites that only provide an info network, it INSPIRES with REASONS to go abroad, as well as my personal story. Unlike other expat sites that only deal with the HOW, it deals with the WHY of expatriation. Come check it out if interested. It contains a feature ebook, discussion forum, and many other things.

Thanks for your time,
Winston

Well Hello!
I'm not Canadian, life would be much easier if I was!

My BF is Canadian, and I was clicking through this site to find out the fastest (I'm pregnant! Damn those Winnipeg winters.) and legal (or not so legal Twisted Evil) way for him to join me here in the States.

This has been so helpful. I was totally confused over how to even start the immigration process.

A little background.
We met while playing a game on line. I met my soul mate 2,000 miles away.
For the past 2 years we both travel back and forth for brief visits.
He grew up in Manitoba and now lives in Alberta. I grew up in West Virginia and I now live in Tennessee. It took us a long time to decide we wanted to have a life together. When we decided, fate made us speed it up.

Hello, I'm from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) and am moving to London, UK by the end of 2008 (late fall, I think). My grandfather was from Northern Ireland, and so voila, I am in the process of obtaining my citizenship and passport. I'm fresh out of 6 years of post-secondary (2 year diploma in New Media, followed by a 4 year Bachelor of Design), and I currently work as a web/graphic designer, so I'm thinking (hoping?) that finding suitable work will not be overly difficult.

I love traveling, I love getting away, and I feel like I'm "done" with Edmonton, and need to sort of go somewhere "fresh." Visited Europe last year, fell in love (with Europe, that is), and have wanted to go back since. So London I shall start in, and we'll see what happens from there.

Maybe I can make some friends or something. it's going to be interesting and potentially lonely leaving behind the life I've built here, and the friends that are currently in it.

If anyone wants to chat, share advice, or anything really, e-mail me. I'm nice. I swear. And I love speaking about travel and such.
