Hi all-

I'm originally from Canada and have been living in the US for almost 13 years. I stumbled on this site while looking for info on moving back to Canada.

We haven't made any final decisions yet, but we're consulting with a lawyer and looking at all the different forums for those of us that want to "re-pat" with our families...

Welcome Abroad Michael, you may want ot check the info in the Australia & New Zealand forum here canadians-in-australia-and-new-zealand-vf5.html

From what I remember, it is not an easy process to immigrate to Oz. And you have to have proof of funds to support yourself, IIRC, in the range of $40k in the bank I think. Don't know if that is the same if you already have an employer to sponsor you though.

Greetings everyone!

I need to post a question but thought that I should demonstrate polite Canadian manners and at least introduce myself first!

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan but have been living overseas for the past six years. I spent four years avoiding winter while living in the Philippines and then, having forgotten the perils of cold weather living, moved to Poland where "toque" has re-appeared in my vocabulary and my wardrobe.

While I should be a good Canadian and say I miss Tim's more than anything, I think I miss Eatmore bars way more.

I'm Lori. I was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario, then went to school and lived in Michigan for 9 years (what was I thinking!?!), and then lived in TO for 5 years before moving to a SE borough of London in November 2004.

I had never been outside of North America before moving here and didn't know a soul. It has been quite an adventure.

I miss Canada (I think mostly the *comfortableness* of knowing what people are saying and how things work and of course our great Canadian food!). I am having a great time here though- and I love that the "whole" world is just an hour or two by plane away. I love the whole travel culture and the much more laid back lifestyle (although not being able to find a store open after hours and dealing with banks here have nearly driven me over the edge!).

Nice to see y'all here!

(just wanted to use that emote cuz when else could you?!)

Hi Lori,
I married a English man and I'm from Pickering, Ontario. We're living in West Yorkshire now. I love my husband, but miss home terribly. Business here sucks with everything closing early. I am currently waiting to take all my money out of one bank and put it in another. At the moment all of our money is in 3 accounts in my husbands name. I don't even exist to the bank. I feel the same as you do about the laid back culture. I think it's great, but you can definately see the downfalls of it too. If you'd like to chat more let me know. We can exchange emails or add each other to facebook. Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Lynsay

I'm a permanent resident who has just moved back to the US but still working fulltime for a Canadian company and traveling back and forth. Get more complicated by the day.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Emil, I am a recent graduate of International Business. I have an educational background in many marketing, buyer behaviour, and managmeent fields. I am hoping to find a job somewhere abroad in my field, with my biggest goals being Los Angeles, USA, and possbily Europe.

I have dual citizenship - Canadian and Polish (EU essentially). I speak 4 languages - English (fluent), Polish (fluent), Spanish (advanced), and French (intermediate).

I have lived one year in Valencia, Spain (exchange) where I made great friends and loved the weather. Felt lonely at times, but it all went away towards the end.

I don't really know what else stay. I am only at the beginning of my career, but I would love to go and work somewhere warm or famous (California, Europe, etc). Seems like a pipe dream, but I know it's possible!

So once again, hello, and I hope to gain the information I need from this forum/website, to be able to pursue my goals.

Oh....and if someone wants to offer me jobs/point me in the right direction of securing a job in my field... I would gladly accept that info! :P

thanks!
