Hello Everyone,

I was born and raised in a small town in Alberta and am now living in North Carolina! All of my family and friends are still back home. I met my husband who is in the United States Marine Corps and moved here to be with him. We have a daughter born here between the two of us, as well as my 2 boys from a previous marriage to a Canadian! That was some extreme speed bumps I had to go through right there to get where I am now. It was all worth it, but I am really hoping that we can move back to Canada some time soon! Looking to meet any people living around me that I can get in touch with and feel my culture again. I sure do miss celebrating all of my holidays from back home! Luckily my anniversary is on Canada Day! Everyone wonders why it is a big deal to me! If only they knew....LoL

Hello
My wife and I have been in the UAE for the past 18 months and have returned to our home in Victoria BC. Since then I have taken a new position with a American company based in Las vegas and working from my home as a Manager of Sales and Marketing. My employer has been deducting a Federal With holding tax, social security, and Medicare and wanted to find out if this is the Norm for anyone else in this situation.
Thank you for response in advance

Hi, My husband and I currently live in Winnipeg. We have lived in Vancouver most of our lives and will most likely move a few more times within Canada before retiring. I am trying to convince my husband to at least consider other places to retire besides Canada, and so we are making a list of possible countries, then going to visit as a first step. I'm most curious in Chile, although I am interested in other countries if they are safe, inexpensive and allow foreigners to own property. If anyone knows of some countries I should check into further please, let me know!

Warm Regards!

Hi to everyone,
Just joined Canuck Abroad and I am happy to be here.
I am from Niagara Falls Ontario, and left there to find the perfect spot to retire -- in 1990. Searched for 12 years and finally found what we think is the best place --Panama!
We live here in rural Panama just 20 minutes from the border of Costa Rica. I have two corporations and a small development that my wife and I are building. Our goal is to provide truly affordable retirement living.
Anyone wishing to move to or simply visit Panama please contact me and I am happy to offer any information that I have. Also, if you wish to gain some insight as to how to open a business here I welcome your questions. Business can be done but it has it's challenges and I have the experience and the scars to prove it.
Our website holds more details about us.
Cheers,
Jack

Hello all - I am originally from Ottawa but have spent most of my life in Saskatchewan as a school principal and teacher. I was in Changzhou, Jiangsu from August 2006 to June 2008 with my wife where we taught at C.I.T. We have returned to again work at the same university for at least one more year.

I am looking for the e-mail contact address for the Changzhou expat group, the one that has monthly meetings. If someone could send me the address I would be most appreciative.

For those who are familiar with Changzhou, I am teaching at the Xin Bei campus not too far from Monkey King restaurant, not too far from the International School.

The information can be e-mailed to me at rgl@sasktel.net - Thanks!

Hello, We are a family of 4, came to Canada from India, 20yrs ago. We are Canadian/EU Citizens. Now my 18 yr old daughter is moving to complete her 4-year LLB program in the UK, and I would like any information that may be helpful to her, re: flatsharing in Central London, student discount websites, Banking, Travel, etc.

Any previous Students who have been through this route, please pass on any information that may be helpful.

I have also been browsing through the many postings on this forum - very helpful.

Thanks, I love this site.
