I haven't actually lived in Canada since 1962 but I've been trying to move back since then and think I may finally be getting back soon (within 2 weeks). It's a 45 year itch! Raised in England and the USA after Ontario and Quebec, and getting excited about working and buying a home on Vancouver Island, B.C., which will be very cosmopolitan and urban for me because I'm spoiled with the Alaskan wilderness. I am trying to focus and apply myself to adult matters of emigration/immigration such as taxes and finding a teaching job. Getting my Canadian passport, social insurance card, and new birth certificate is behind me! I want my youngest son to finish growing up around Canadians. It seems amazing to hear there are rhodies and daffodils blooming on northern Vancouver Island when we just had another snowstorm! Thinking it might be a nice change to get away from the 2 seasons of Alaska - construction (2 and a half months)and winter, and be relaxed enough to be a more productive artist.

Hi, I'm Jimmy, recently graduate from U of T with a business degree. I'd really like to work in Las Vegas or L.A. I find to wayy to cold here. I'm having a tough time getting a job offer. I'm mainly applying to jobs online. But this site has definetly helped with my understanding of VISAs.

It's been interesting to hear how everyone's had so many great experiences abroad.

Hello Dear Fellow Canadians:

I'm from Toronto, Ontario, currently living in the U.S. and dreaming to return to Canada. I miss Canada and believe that Canadian life style is better.

Thanks,

HI ya, from Christchurch!

I am 28 years old, my boyfriend is 31, (been together 6 years! Both kiwis). We lived in Vancouver for 4 months and Toronto for 4 months.

I work at a real estate company in administration, love meeting new people (have met a few online now!), fave music – 80’s, Robbie Williams, Madonna, U2, Jack Johnson, dance, like travelling, (went on a roadtrip in USA for 4 weeks), cooking, watching rugby, going out for coffee, movies.

While living in Canada I had only couple of friends, and found it really tough & lonely being in a new city, so I thought I would come on here and see if anyone is in the same boat as I was there and looking for a new friend – (different when you are at school you always meet new people) – I came on here to meet up with people and if we have similar interests I look forward to a great friendship!

Hey everyone! New to the forum! Originally from Regina, SK and have resided in ND for 5 years. I just graduated from 5 years of university on an F-1 student visa. I applied for Optional Practical Training (OPT) under the F-1 status and will begin work June 1 of this year. My F-1 OPT will expire May 31, 2008.

I have a few questions that I won't be able to ask my international student coordinator until june because she went to travel abroad. I would like to apply for the TN visa under the social work classification. I was told about it from the coordinator, but I am still confused after reading a little bit about the TN visa about the application process.

As far as my drivers licence and insurance that won't have to change until I change to TN status? As of now because I am in F-1 status I can keep my canadian drivers licence, I drove a ND registered & insured vechile up until 2 weeks ago when it crapped out on me. Can anyone help me?

Much appreciated!

Andrea

Hey Everyone, My name is Chris, but everyone calls me Kitty or Kat. (My middle name is Katriona) I'm originally an English Canadian from Montreal. I'm currently living in South Yorkshire with my husband, who happens to be British.

I love it here, mostly because I'm with him, but I miss my hometown. Bright lights and Big City Barnsley is not. Smile

I'm looking to get my Ancestry Visa and Passport so if anyone has any ideas about that it would be a BIG help.

Talking to friends back home is great, but I'd like to see if there are any other Canucks I commiserate with over the lack of good coffee around here. Wink (No TIMMIES!)

Take care and talk to you soon!

Kitty

Mentos,

What are your questions about the TN visa and social work? I was employed as a social worker for 5 years on a TN. If you are planning to do it, make sure you get registered as a social worker or social work technician with your state.

I had to switch over my insurance and license when I started working FT in the states as my CDN insurance company would not cover me anymore, however, others have had a different expereince and were able to keep their Canadian stuff.

Good luck.
