Investement opportunites as Non Resident Canadian

Hello Forum,

I am an Engineer and working in Middleast and looking for some guidance to invest for my retirement and childern education....

What are the options to build my own Reteirment plan?
Can I buy a small condo and rent?where ? (some folks says not a good idea)
Can I buy mutual funds etc.. for long term, I have RRSP account prior to moving here, Can I keep putting money in the account? Any tax complication?
Is there any suggestion.. would really appreciate...
