Hi there,
I will be coming to Europe this summer via London and I am checking into flight prices. My uncle (who is a UK citizen living in Canada) told me that i should definitely be able to find a return flight from Toronto to London for less that $700 including taxes. I have been looking on-line and so far haven't found anything in that ballpark. Does anyone have suggestions as to where to look? Also, if I am planning to leave in the first week of July or very last day of June (I'm a teacher so earlier is basically impossible) how early would you suggest I book?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

Unfortunately the cost for flights has risen darastically in the last year or so with new fuel surcharges and taxes and such. You will find that most airlines will be charging you $700 Plus if you book right now. However it is possible if you look for a flight closer to the date of your departure you'll have better luck and may be able to cash in on some deals.

When I was searching for my flight from vancouver the best I was able to find other than air transat was for $800 in march.

Honestly . you *should* be able to get a cheaper flight than $700 to the UK but that isn't the norm anymore. In order to get it you will have to watch for deals and specials. Likely the cheapest you will get it down to will be 600- 650 after taxes.

Air transat can have some pretty good last minute specials when they are trying to fill a plane up and are worth looking for if you are okay with waiting.

I've flown back and forth from the UK a number of times and the price you get is all about timing really. I've paid 600$ return and I've had to pay over $1000.

As you're going in highseason it can work for you and against you. Everything will be more expensive in July as the demand is increased, but when it comes to flights there are likely to be more promotions and specials at that time.

Just keep looking until you find something you are happy with and is within your budget. Just because you can get a cheaper flight. if it's with a crappy airline would you really want it?

I could be mistaken. but I remember looking into this a little while back.

You can fly out of Hamilton to Gatwick, and it is alot cheaper.

I just did a quick search, and you can go for about $400 taxes included.

Thanks for your responces. I appreciate the advice.
Little Mapes, Wow -- $400 -- that would totally be worth it.
Thanks for the heads up. Do you remember which airline that was with?

I just did a quick search now at flight centre dot ca. Flights one way from Hamilton to Gatwick is $350 the airline is 'flyglobespan'

. honestly, I've never heard of them. I'm sure there are more smaller charters going the same route.

Hope that helps!

Air Transat might be your best bet. If you use their website you can get a good idea of the price changes on a week to week basis. Early July it's usually pretty high, but it drops towards the end of July. I know it might suck, but paying $750 for your ticket might be the way to go. Most deals you see that are super cheap are usually 1-2 weeks. Unless you do get lucky with a last minute filling.
