Hi. I’m a Canadian Citizen, resident in Canada.
I currently have a TN visa for some management consulting work I do for a client in the US. That contract is running out soon, and the TN-1 is expiring.
I’m also a musician (it pays a lot less than the management consulting), and am looking into applying for a P-2 visa through the American Federation of Musicians, for a series of performances I’ll be doing over a few months in the next year. During that series of performances, I’ll be continuing to live in Canada, and coming to the US periodically for the shows.
My concern is this: I’m hoping to generate some more consulting contracts during that time. If I do- presumably I can’t legally do my consulting work by coming into the US on my P-2 Visa. I assume I’d need to re-apply for a TN. Depending on the timing, that would very possibly mean I’d need to hold both visas simultanesouly. Is this possible?
If I matters – I expect the visits for consulting and for music shows would be separate: That is, each time I came to the US, it would be either to do a show, or to do some consulting work, but I don’t think I’d ever need to do both on the same visit. (Though I’m curious whether that would be okay).
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!

(hi - I hope it's not a breach of forum etiquette if I post here to "bump" this question back up. I've done a bunch more research to try and find an answer, but have been unable to find out. If anyone has any information, I'd be very grateful!)
