Is this an overstay? confused

I came to the US the beginning of Oct, to visit my boyfriend. I told the border guard I'd be leaving at the end of November, because I was trying to find a cheap flight back. (the boyfriend came and picked me up)
Its now December, and I'm leaving in the next week. My question is - since I haven't been in the country for 6 months straight (or 6 months, adding up all of my trips in the last year) is this considered an overstay? or not?

Unless you were given an I-94 with a date in November, you have not overstayed. You are allowed 6 months in US once in US.
