Jobs for couples

Post Mon Jan 16, 2006 8:24 am

Hello there,

I'm new to this board and had a few questions about employment in the UK.
I have an EU passport and my fiance has a 2 year working holiday visa.

Are there jobs in the hospitality/hotel industry that are geared towards accomodating couples, and if so, where is the best place to look. We are not particular about location.

Also, with an EU passport, do I need to get a work permit, and if not, how do I go about getting a social insurance number and bank account. Will this be a difficult process for me?

thanks everyone!

Be patient. It takes more than a few hours for a response.

With an EU passport, you do not need a work visa. I have a Dutch one and it is FAB!

Apparently it is not hard to get a National Insurance Number here (aka SIN), though I haven't gotten one yet (still have the temp one).

Getting a bank account is HORRENDOUS! (See the post "Banking here makes me homicidal!". It is possible to get one, though it took me two months. Try a bank like HSBC at home and see if they can help you get an in with HSBC here.

I can't help on the job issue.

Good luck! :D
