Hi,

I am Canadian, and have been teaching in South Korea for the past 5 years. My boyfriend is American, working in the Air Force here, and we are filing the I-129F for the K-1 visa so we can move to the states and be married. We also have to fill out the G-325A and it asks my current address, as well as my past addresses, etc. I always use my mom's address in Canada as my 'go to' address for anything. I am wondering what to put on these forms as my current address. I'm leaving korea in February 2009. Should I just put my Canadian address for the I-129F then write my korean addresses for the G-325A.it's quite frustrating to figure out!

Thanks!

If you put different addresses on each form, you'll get an RFE for sure because you'll confuse the crap out of them! But if you omitt any information, you'll get an RFE because they'll suspect you're trying to hide why you're in Korea because it'll come up when they do the background check most likely.

SO, I'd suggest you put your current Korea address on the forms, mark it as "Temporary" attach a separate sheet with your Canadian address on it for each of the I-129F and the G-325A forms. Make sure you put on there which form number the attachment goes with, your full name, your fiance's full name, and the Section number on the form it goes with. You may also want to mention that you are only in Korea until a certain date, and then your contract is done, so you will be returning to Canada for your K1 interview.

And make sure you put on the I-129F that you wish to interview at the consulate in Canada (Montreal if you live in Eastern Canada, Vancouver if you live in the west. The country is divided at Manitoba), otherwise they'll send it to Korea.

And always always always always keep copies of Everything you send them! Just in case they do send you an RFE, you'll know what you've sent and what you haven't.

Thanks Reba, I really appreciate your help, and saving me from future frustrations!

One more question. How do I mark it as temporary? Should I fill in the korean address, and directly after that write, 'temporary' or 'temporary-see attachment'?

Thanks again.

I'd put "temporary - see attachment"

There's no guarantee of course that all of that won't confuse the crap out of them and cause them to send you an RFE, but it may be less chance. Maybe. Wink
