[i]I am a Canadian awaiting the approval of our K1 Visa to move to the USA. Once approved, we will be driving a Uhaul across the border (North Portal) to move our belongings to the USA. Does anyone know where I can find information on what exactly I will need to do to cross at the border? I have the understanding that all boxes need to be itemized and numbered. How exact does Customs want the list of our belongings and do I need to have a price tag on each box or on each item in each box? I am confused and haven't been able to locate any information on this. If you've experienced this or possibly know where I can find this information out, please let me know. I appreciate all the help! Thank you all in advance, I look forward to hearing from you!

Howdy. First of all check out visajourney.com (VJ)and stop by the CANADA forum.

I came over on a CR-1 visa (marriage) with my Uhaul truck, and like many others have stated on VJ, the Customs guys didnt really inspect. They never even looked in my uhaul truck. I marked the boxes such as 'kitchen items" "living room", didnt get carried away, more for my info that anythign else. As well with MS Word i made a table with headings such as "item" "Serial #" "When purchased" (just estimated) And I didnt list every single item, grouped stuff together, like books, utensils, etc The POE guy said it was more than he would have done if he was in the same situation! Some people will mention form 3299, BUT thats for unaccompanied items (if movers were moving you) so not required for ur uhaul move. http://www.cbp.gov/ as well do a search on there
