Right now the lawyer is working on a new application and the decision is to try again at the airport. We are thinking since the original application was not convincing enough, we will try to add a lot more information in the new application.

We have a few questions:
1. Will the service center send us a receipt number? Can we add documents to the current pending application?

2. Is it better to wait for the receipt number of the pending one and then withdraw it from the airport? Will they accept the withdraw request when we don't have the receipt number yet?

3. From what you said, CBP can not denial a L application, the worse would be sending the application to service center again?

Thanks!

If the service center denies your application outright, then there must be a serious reason that you/company do not qualify. I f the service center needs more information they simply request more info, but would not deny you because of a lack of information. There policy is to request more info. CBP can deny an L1 application, but that only means that the service center must be used. As far as the reciept number, I don't know how they would work it, I have never come across anyone who applied at both the POE and the Service center at the same time. (huge waste of money) At the POE if we accept an L1, we stamp it with an approved stamp, but it then goes to the Service center for review and can still be denied (revoked) as I have seen it before.

This was totally unexpected! We already got an apartment in the US and have our furnitures with the moving company waiting for our visa!

Unfortunately people put the cart before the horse. It is not always a given that a work visa will be as simple as going to the POE and picking one up. This is a seperate country and due to differences in the interpretations of the Law, can be time consuming.

Update:
My husband got his L1-b visa stamp at the airport! He provided a thick application and I guess it worked!

2 more questions:
1. As his wife, what documents do I need to bring to get my L2 stamp?
2. Do I need to book round trip flight or one way is fine?

Thanks for your help!
