L1-B Visa

Post Thu Jan 27, 2011 5:35 pm

Hi there:

I work for a technology company in Canada and have been approached by one of our authorized resellers in the US. There are agreements in place that give them permission to sell our products to end customers. They would like to hire me. I know the L1-B is for special knowledge workers. Can I get hired by my reseller on the basis that I bring product knowledge as well as policies and procedures that an average American would not have on a L1-B? as a specialized knowledge worker We only sell our product to authorized resellers and there is a huge process the resellers must go through to become authorized to represent us. I am not being recruited for a management position or executive position.

The reseller and I are trying to get information on this so we can proceed with the hiring of someone in the role.

The reason I ask is that I had a friend in the UK who moved to America on a L1 visa for 7 years. He worked for a TV network in the UK. He then was offered a job in America for an American TV network and brought specialized knowledge of programming to the US affiliate even though there was no apparent relationship between the two companies.
