L1 visa @ Blaine NO "pre adjudication"

Post Mon Jul 19, 2010 1:21 pm

Hi, we recently drove to Blaine to get my L1 visa (and my families L2)with the intention of getting it first, then returning to canada to get organized and then entering a few weeks later.

the border officer told us that we couldn't do that, and said they can't "pre adjudicate" visas, and we have to return on the day we move.

now i have read more about this i understand that we cant "flagpole"

he said there was nothing wrong with our application, and that we shouldn't have a problem, but they couldn't process it 4 weeks away from entry.

has this happened to anyone? do they make a note that you made this mistake (bear in mind i was of course 100% honest about my intentions)?

The farther west the POE the more strict on "pre-admittance".

Most POES in the east will admit you 2 weeks early.

What probably should have been done by your employer was to set up the transfer earlier than needed, and then you would legitimately have been starting "now", instead of weeks from now.
