or google L1 visa.

Just remember that Cdns don't need a consular visa, and can get L1 at the border by submitting documentation there.

The permit is available right at the border provided all your paperwork is in order but there are certain minimum criteria to meet.

L-1 allows for dual-intent and you are allowed to show immigrant intent from an L-1 unlike the TN categories where showing explicit intent is not permitted.

Actually i understand the TN process but L1B is new, does the process take the same time as TN.

For TN i take the letter and degree's to the border and get a I94 stamped is it the same process for L1B? Can i apply it through Mail?

The CBP might drill you the same way they would drill TNers or i would assume.

I understand on L1 you can file a GC but i don't have any intention to file for one, the only reason i am thinking about filing the L1 instead of a TN is as Nelson pointed out earlier it can cause some issues as i already have 3 TNs and going for another 3 year TN can be an issue on MC.

I am trying to put all my options on the table before i go and get a TN or L1 etc

Thank You

L-1 is processed at the border but may take longer than TN due to the somewhat more complex paperwork involved. TN could take anywhere from 10 minutes to hours depending on the port of entry. I got a TN-1 in about 5 minutes at Montreal PFI whereas Pearson PFI, it is not uncommon to be in line for 2 or 3 hours waiting.

The process is fairly similar. CBP could always drill you depending on the port of entry but not all ports are the same so there will be some good experiences even for Management Consultants.

They cannot deny you due to the number of TN's you have since there is no limit on the number that can be issued. The problem that you could encounter is when you have had many, many successive TN's and then a DHS Inspector might suspect you have immigrant intent and then deny you based upon that. A few more and you may be starting to get there.

Actually MC that's what i thought until Ag nelson pointed it out to me that MC is supernumerary and temp, i understand all TN are temp but his post makes a lot of sense that's why i am trying researching on this board itself i have seen people who have multiple years with the same company as a Management Consultant.

Maybe it makes a difference if i wrote on my TN letter that i am a consultant and not an employee which will be 100% accurate as i am a consultant and not an employee of this company, maybe i should go to my actual company that has me placed as a consultant to this company and get a TN from them. Its just that they only have a few employees in the US so i am not sure.

The company that i currently work for just acquired another company and this company wants me to stay so i can remove some fat and make the company lean.

Its confusing but rest assured before getting my TN i will know exactly what to do.

By the way thanks to both MC and AgNelson. I was wondering if Steven can jump into this as well it seems like he knows what he's talking about.

Anyone else have had multiple TNs as MC for the same company please let me know your experiance

Thanks to all

Nelson undoubtedly has some good pointers.

At one time several years back, CBP (back then INS) was placing 2 year maximum durations for TN Status under the Management Consultant category at some ports. That restriction was subsequently lifted but the history of it is fascinating nonetheless.

Thus looking at the L-1 may be worth your while.

MC would it make a difference if i put Consultant in the TN letter so it proves to the CBPO that i am a consultant and not a full time employee?

Please study the Dictionary of Occupational Titles for the Management Consultant category at the following url:

http://www.grasmick.com/dot.htm

You may not function as a Manager under this category otherwise CBP would deny the application.
