Last Minute Flights to Canada

Hello, I am working out flight details for a Eurotrip this summer and was wondering if it is reasonable to assume that we could easily grab 3 last minute tickets home in July/August. We are willing to schedule a few days as buffer in order to ensure that we don't pay top dollar to get home. Is last minute from Europe the way to go??

I had some difficulty finding a ticket even a month in advance, when trying to get back to Canada last summer. I ended up paying about CAN $1300, which is more than I've ever paid for the round trip. But maybe I didn't look in the right places!
