Leaving minimal debt in the UK

Post Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:54 am

I'm not exactly pulling a runner but i when I left the UK i hadn't received my last broadband bill from BT yet. Now that I am back in Canada, BT is making it impossible for me to pay it off. They wont let me pay it online since my landline number is canceled and when i spoke to a CSR on the phone they wouldn't accept my Canadian credit card and i cant pay with my UK debit because i emptied my UK bank account. Its only £190 but I would hate for this debt to creep up again should i move back to the UK next year, and I read on another forum of someone being stopped at British customs for outstanding debts in the UK.maybe thats me just being paranoid though.

Wouldn't happen over a debt that small. The only other way is to send them an international bank draft, I'm sure they'd love that.

BT are CRAP. The only reason to use them is if there is no alternative.
