Life in UK..know anything specifically on the Isle of Wight?

Hi all - It's been a while since I was last on and now we've moved past the whole immigration questions and are on to quality of life.

Does anyone have any direct experience, or know anyone who has lived on the Isle of Wight. My family is considering the purchase of a small Pub in the future and although my father-in-law is from Portsmouth, it's been 30+ years since he lived there, and doesn't know a lot about the Isle of Wight.

What I'm wondering is what's life like there - living day-to-day? I know the peak season (summer) is quite beautiful and lively, but it does seem a bit isolated from the mainland.

Any input or opinions (or websites) would be greatly appreciated.

How did the immigration process work out for you, by the way?

I have a friend who's aunt or great-aunt lives there. She really enjoys it. Buying a pub on the Isle of Wight. Sounds like a dream to me!
