LIVING IN US WORKING IN CANADA

Postby ballershotcaller33 » Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:16 pm

I was wondering if anyone encountered or had the idea of buying a house in the US but commuting each day to and from work in Canada. Both my wife and I work about 20 minutes from the BC/Wash border and with the house prices in Washington cheaper than BC (and the dollar equal), we thought it might be something worth looking into. Not too sure where to start or what the process would be, but any help would be appreciated.

In order to live full time in the US, you must have some sort of residency status, ie: a visa or green card.

As Canadians are not eligible for the green card lottery, and if you'll be working in Canada, you're not eligible for a TN, unless you have American parents and you're eligible for derivative citizenship, your options are pretty limited.
