living in USA but work in Canada 120 days a year

Post Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:46 pm

Hi I am hoping to move to the USA, of course its about a boy LOL...

I need to beable to go back and forth during the process of trying to move there as i have an elderly mother.

I am trying to figure out how i can live in the USA 3/4 of the time and return to canada one week a month.

i am a massage therapist which doesnt get me anywhere for work though i am way better educated and trained but 1400 hours.

Is there a way i can work legally on a contract in the USA(they pay to canada), for the other 3 weeks and then work for a week in canada once a month?

eventually when my mom has passes i will move & work in the usa full time.

I am not having much luck.

thanks

You will not be able to do any work in US until you marry, and get EAD thru that green card process.

visajourney.com for relationship visas k1 (fiance visa) may not do you much good as their are restrictions on it. Read the link I will provide! To get the visa is 6+ months, then approx another 3 months to get the greencard

The Cr-1(already married) may be better, well it is the better visa, but takes a few months longer, but u get the greencard right away, approx 1 year for process! http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

With ur greencard u can live in the USA and still go and work in Canada! One wants to ensure they are spending more time in the USA than anywhere else in the world, as 1 could loose the greencard. if you decide to go for your USA citizenship, they ask for each visit over 24hrs outside of the USA, so keep track!!!

You can work 365 days a year in canada if you wish at that point.

As long as you sleep in US for more than 183, you will be fine.

thanks so much for your help.

When I apply, for the K1, greencard. or cr1, do i have to surrender my passport? I would like to be able to travel between the USA and canada until i have been approved. I have an elderly mother and i want to be able to travel back and forth.

Read over the guides at VJ--No 1 cares more about ur case than YOU!!!

After the interview you have to give them the ur passport as thats what the visa gets clued into. Takes up a whole page in ur passport!! Make sure ur passport isnt about to expire, I believe 1 is to have to still valid for a min of 6 months!! And it takes anywhere from a few days to a week to get it mailed back to you--via DHL courier service!!

Keep in mind on a k1, ur not going to be able to work right away in the USA---count on 3 months--and u can NOT just get up and leave the USA (including to canada) until u get ur greencard or u apply for and get Advance parole(AP).U can apply for Emergency AP as well. Its never a problem leaving the USA--It is getting back in if you don't have the proper paperwork!! Where as the cr-1 u can work right away and can leave the USA right away!!

ps...if u live manitoba and west, ur k1 visa interview would be in Vancouver and they are a LOT faster than Montreal. If u go the CR-1 route--All Cdns got Montreal. But take time and read over the guides and visit the Canadian section of VJ, someone has taken the time and wrote a step by step instruction for Cdn k1's!! AND keep in mind that k1's can goto either Mtl or Van, based on where they live in Canada AND each consulate does a few things a bit different!!

For working in USA and moving to Canada one week and you need payment in Canada. So,For that,In my opinion you should have green card and get permanent residence ship of USA.For more info, you could contact with visa and immigration experts and then you should contact with the companies.

Good Luck!!!!!!!
