Living out the dream - travel and working in Europe

Post Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:35 pm

me and a friend have decide to just jump the gun and go to Europe before we have to move out here back in Canada. We are planning to go sometime around middle January to early February. We don't really have a game plan on where to start thinking Germany and just go with the flow to where ever else but u.k. and Holland are a must. We would need to stop in u.k. in middle of trip for work and save up a few pennies & have place to stay there hopefully for free. would we need the holiday visa sense were not skilled workers? even to work at warehouse? or is there anywhere else in Europe i can stop and work and not need the visa?. Any information you could give me and stories told over msn or anything would mean alot 2 me and help me out great fully.

I'm 20 calgarian. thought this web page had alot of good info so would go here for help :P thank you.

Hey!

Welcome to the site.

I'd start in Germany adn work your way up to Amsterdam, then through belgium (Antwerp is pretty cool) and then to Paris - From there you can take the EuroStar train through the chunnel to the UK and do your work thing.

Your best bet for finding under-the-table type work is probably at hostels and pubs. But your best bet is to try and get that working holiday visa, that'll open up a bunch more options.

Good luck! It'll be a great trip - one I've done a few times, and keep going back for more of ;)

You need the WHV to do any sort of work here in the UK for any amount of time. I'm currently in London on a WHV, working on a three month contract for Harrods and they took my passport and photocopied my visa to show that i had the legal right to work here.
