I've also been amazed with skype -- computer to computer anywhere in the world is totally free. Computer to their phone is super cheap. From Africa to Canada for 2 cents per minute.

I'll add my name to the list of those supporting Skype! You can get USB cordless phones that you hook up to your computer, and you can use it just like you would a real phone. Unlimited long distance in US/Canada for $2.95 a month. People can call you on your skype in number, they don't have to have skype. It's fantastic, no need to even have a real phone, except that you don't get 911 access, but I assume you also have a mobile phone.
