Looking for advice on moving to the UK

Post Tue Aug 14, 2007 9:46 am

Hi all,

I am relatively new to the boards and am looking mainly for some people to share their experiences with me.

I am thinking about moving to the UK (London) sometime in the next year. I qualify for an ancestry visa (grandfather) and can meet all the requirements as I have a friend in London that I could probably stay with for a month or so. My boyfriend is also British and plans to move back in the next year or so. (hence why I am thinking of moving)

I currently work in the entertainment (music) industry doing communications/pr and am hoping to stay in the same field. I have about 3 years experience.

I was hoping that someone out there could share their experience about moving, getting a job etc. I am worried about finding work. Does anyone have any places that I should look for jobs, great PR companies I should contact ahead of time etc? Or even advice on applying for the Visa itself. One thing I am specifically worried about is how much $$$ I need to have in my account to apply.

Thanks so much for your help and all your stories.

hwy there. there are many UK job sites, you could try sending your application by email in advance and anticipate the replies when you reach UK.
as for the amount you should have in your bank account for applying, that's an info that the British high comm. can provide. so you could just give them a call and ask them that.
