looking for some advice

I'm 29 years old. I haven't done much travelling (aside from vacationing) and I have been thinking a lot about it. I just got my red seal in air conditioning and refrigeration so I am finally making some money and can save. In canada, the economic situation is pretty good. I'm sure I could leave PEI tomorrow and find a great job that pays just as well (if not better) anywhere else in the country. But I was wondering if there are any of you have travelled and worked at trades. How easy is it to find a job in say Austrailia? Central America? I have a lot of building maintenance experience and have looked around for jobs on resorts and hotels, but I've been having a hard time. Some people are telling me to save some cash, buy a plane ticket and go, because I would'nt have any trouble finding work.
