Making friends in London?

Post Fri May 29, 2009 3:41 am

Is it just me, or is it ridiculously hard to make friends in London?

It seems like everyone has their own circle of friends, and they're ALL closed off....

Any other views?

i've found that it's much easier to make friends in london than elsewhere because there are so many foreigners in london, and foreigners are generally more open to making new friends. i'd say at least 50% of my friends were not born in the uk. now that's not to say the natives aren't cool. they're just a bit more hit or miss.

i recommend inviting out work colleagues and flatmates for drinks. If you're single, go on a mad dating spree, and friend zone the ones that you don't want to date (and aren't psychopaths). take salsa lessons, play team sports, join a book club, check out those network canada events, whatever.

eventually you'll find people that you'll get on well with. it's a straight up numbers game; and it's easier to play in london, in my opinion.
