Can a Canadian marry an American
inmate without telling them at the
border that I am getting married? I
would then return back to Canada to
live. I am unable to live in the
States at this time.

Would they know at the border that I
got married even if I do not tell
them? I would like to visit him once
a year for one week at a time. Will
they stop me from crossing the border?
I will be bringing papers to prove
that I am coming back to Canada, not
staying in the States.

Yes, you can get married in the US if you plan to return to Canada. Bring proof that you have firm ties to Canada, such as a job to get back to, house to pay for etc etc etc.

One week trips, once per year shouldn't raise suspicions, if you have the proof that you in fact will be returning to Canada.

They'll only know you're married when they notice the ring or if you tell them.
