Marrying an American man while he's in prison in MD

Yeah, I know. I'm stupid for even considering such a thing but I've known him a long time and have waited 4 years for him. He's still got some time left and we'd like to make our relationship official before his release. Does anyone know if this is even a possibility? Can I, a Canadian-born woman, marry an American citizen who just-so happens to be incarcerated?? Or do I need to wait for him to get out of there first? I know about the Fiancee Visa, but is that for me in this situation?

If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Any person wishing to sponsor a spouse to come live in US would need to provide proof of financial support.

I think you should wait, and leagally, you likely have to anways. Everything else I mightsay, you already know and heard.

I don't think either partner would be able to sponsor the other due to his criminal record. He couldn't sponsor you without the financial backing and he certainly couldn't enter canada. It'd be best you seek about your own visa / work status while in the US so at least you can see him more frequently.
