Me and my Canadian fiancee plan to live with UK parents

Postby simmo484 on Sun Nov 16, 2008 2:39 pm

I am in the UK Royal Air Force and my Canadian fiancee plans to come over on the marriage visa. On her application, it says where she plans to live with me. I currently live in military barracks and Im trying to get rental accommoation sorted for both of us. But in the meantime, with permission of my UK parents, they are willing to put her up in accommodation for when she is here until I get sorted myself. Of course I would visit every weekend until we live together. My questions are:

Can we actually do this and can my fiancee put my parents address on the application?

Do my parents need to write a cover note to say she is staying at there house and their miltary son visits every weekend?

And are there any other pieces of information which could help this matter?

Thank you and I will look forward to any responses.

Okay, I'm not sure on the -exact- 'rules' for the marriage/fiance visa, but when I moved to the UK I moved in with my boyfriend's parents as well.

They had to write a letter confirming that they would have me staying at their place rent free and sent a copy of their mortgage repayments (to prove they own the house) and a copy of their council tax bill (obviously with their address on it) as proof of ownership/living arrangements. They both signed the letter as well, and I sent this as well as the bills in with my application.

I'm not sure where to go from there to prove that you two are in a relationship, though. Sorry!

PS ~ Good on ya for serving your country. (Sorry, I'm a bit biased, being a military brat myself.)
