I am a BCom graduate who currently lives in Toronto. I recently noticed that on the TN-Visa list (in the fine print) a Purchasing Agent includes those who purchase Advertising. I worked at my last job for a year and a half as a Media Buyer/Planner.
I have secured a second Interview with an Online Ad Agency in the US. I just want to make sure the job would qualify on the TN list and I have a chance of being approved should I get hired.
Here is how the List describes a Purchasing Agent:
Alternate titles: buyer. Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for establishment: Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. etc.
Here are some of the duties the position requires:
Develop Request for Proposals and field any vendor questions surrounding the RFP
Evaluate returned RFPs and determine vehicle selections
Develop the final buy recommendation and buy summary
Present the recommendation to the client
Be the day-to-day contact for vendors specific to client business
There are more responsibilities associated with the position. I just want to know if I have a good chance obtaining the Visa if I do get the job. Does anyone know how often this particular occupation is scrutinized? Are there specific things that should be in the Letter from the Employer? Do I have a chance here at all?
Thanks in advance for everyone's contributions!
