Medical coverage

Aloha, I'm moving from BC to Hawaii. I plan on getting married to an American and will live in Honolulu. Should I maintain my medical coverage in BC?

You can't legally keep Canadian/Provincial health insurance if you are a full time legal resident of another country.

Check out their website for info.

I am moving back to BC from the States. I realize that I don't qualify for BC Medical. I tried finding private medical but can not find a company that offers it. Does anyone know how to get coverage during the waiting period?

Thanks

Try getting travel/medical coverage from a US provider - perhaps your employer can get it for you.

i don't know about BC but when my wife and I left ontario knowing that for a full 3 years we'd be out of the country, we filled out an absence from province form and submitted it to a service ontario office with my job letter.

The man there said you're good for 3 years and 7 months from the day of the filing and gave us new cards. He said that if were out of ontario for more than 3 years and 5 months, your coverage in ontario would only re-commence after you have spent 5 consecutive months in ontario.

Also, once you have become a resident of a US state, you may be eligible for a travel medical insurance policy through TD or something, as you are now visiting canada. not sure but check.
