Medical Insurance and a few more q's

This is probably one of the MOST informative and active forum, and I have found many answers here on visa issues etc so THANKS!!

Couple of questions:

1) My employer will only cover medical 90 days after i join, what options are out there for temp / pvt ins.

2) Shd I keep my BC medical and extended ins thru my wife's job till it kicks in - will this cover in th ecase of an emergency?

3) I find a lot of info on taking my car across the border..should I fill in the form and drive across or go thru a customs broker? It's a TOYOTA 4runner (2001).
