Medical Insurance??

Maybe this is a dumb question, and I can't find any threads on it. But Should I be purchasing travellers (medical) Insurance before I get the the UK on my YMS Visa?
My travel agent told me it would be over $800 for a year, just for Medical emergencies, which BARELY covers anything. Is there a different option? Or am I covered at all with my YMS visa?

I always get my insurance at Travel Cuts Canada. If you select the Budget Plan and Non-USA travel, it's very reasonable. I assume you can purchase it online or check your local University campus for a branch.

do you have a job already set up? If yes, you are entitled to the health care (hospital care) because you will be paying into it (this is covered in the little letter you get from Worldbridge when you get your visa).

are you currently covered by anything from work? if yes, maybe ask
your current insurance company about rates.

Just make sure the insurance you buy is the right one. For example most regular travel insurance is based on your having a provincial plan, yet most provincial plans have limits for consecutive days of cover for travel outside your province. My province allowed for a once in a life time extension for up to a year. If this is the case you can use that for the first year, and for the second year you can buy an expat insurance plan.

Either way just make sure you have the right cover, better to be safe than sorry.
