Hi all fellow canucks in Adelaide!

I just moved to Adelaide in January and am loving it so far. I like meeting new friends but it can be hard so I just started a new Adelaide branch of a global expat group. I belonged to this group when I lived in the Netherlands recently and it was a great way to meet people . so I thought it would be fun to start it up here. I think this MEETin group is the largest social network in the world. Take a look and sign up if you want to be a part of it. The most popular event is the pub night that is put on every two weeks! There is also hiking, dinner, and wine tasting on the schedule. Remembe to RSVP is you want to go to an event so we can save you a seat! Check out the website in my signature.

Hope to see some of you ooot and aboooot.

Hey there!

My husband and I will be movin to Adelaide in a couple of months for work on a 457 visa(July-Aug 2007). It is great to know there are fellow Canadians living there.

Would you mind telling me about your experience(s) moving to Adelaide from Canada? For example, things that I can expect, things that are very different which you wished you knew about before you went.

Some things which I am particularily interested in are:
1. Potential taxation issues I may run into
2. rental properties (ie. decent areas to rent)
3. shopping (how is it different, better, worse)
4. should ship all our furniture or just buy new over there? (Very important one)
5. is it worth is to bring our car? (they will let us keep our lefthand drive for 3 years.
6. How much can I expect to pay for private health insurance.

Thank you for any input that you may have!

Hi RVC,

I am slammed with work at the moment and heading out to the wine valleys for the weekend (just wanted to make you jealous!) but I just wanted to let you know that I am not ignoring you . I will answer some of your questions next week.

Cheers,
Jody
