meeting canadian-is important to you while abroad

Post Wed Sep 10, 2008 1:01 pm

just curious. i live in the middle of the middle of nowhere in germany, and have for the last 18 monthes. during that time i have met one canadian.in saarland.
not that i look for them, nor is it really important to me that i find any others, but a recent trip to japan jogged me a bit. i met 3 canadians over the course of 6 days. not even like at the 'local canadian bar' if there is such a thing. i mean on a ferry back from niijima where we didn't have seat and just happened to sit at the same table on the deck, in some local bar (i had to ask, she said 'university', not college, with a midwest accent, and it peaked my interest). just dumb luck.
just curious. most of the germans i meet here NEVER go on vacation where it isn't poular with the rest of the german population. i find it strange, and am curious what you all's thoughts are.
help me jebus

Even in this hick town in Bible Belt USA I've come across quite a few Canadians, mostly who are living here for one reason or another. Plus, there is an on-line group called CanSouth for Canadians in North Carolina, and they get together now and again for BBQ and hockey nights.

I don't hang out with any of the other Canucks in town (most of them strangely are here with church groups), and the CanSouth group is mostly too far away for me to get to, what with the price of gas lately and other stuff.
