Hey guys,

I'm 22 and I work for a bank in Canada doing customer service. I love adventure and seeing new things/places.

Anyways, over a beer (go figure) me and some buds came up with the ingenious idea to go to Oktoberfest in Munich this year (sept 22- oct 8 2007). Now the 3 of us aren't flowing in cash and want to try to do this if possible. Now one of our buddies dad works for Air Canada, and it looks like we should be able to get a pretty good deal on air so the main expense would be lodging/travel(excluding air)/partying.

Ive been looking online and it looks like the hotels in Munich during Octoberfest are mostly sold out, and if not rapidly selling. hostels seem to be impossible (weekends are completely booked). Now, I read (on here I think?) that with the transportation system in Europe it would be possible to stay out of Munich and travel in for Oktoberfest. but from what it sounds that would be atleast an hour each way.

Long story short, if any of you have done this, or something similar can you give me a rough idea what costs are like out there? I read that a liter of beer is under $10 Canadian, haha so that doesn't seem too bad. but everything else I'm not sure.

Thanks guys in advance, any suggestions, tips or anything is welcomed

Cheers,

Gavin

Beer in Germany is quite cheap. that is no problem. The thing I would suggest you tho. is to sleep out of munich to save money and hassle to find a place. and seriously you will not want to be there more than 2 days probably. it's nice to party and drink beer, but it's getting old fast. especially if you think of the price to come here and do that. so I would suggest you to travel a little. the transportation can be a little bit expensive, but it's worth it.

A nice trip from Munich to Berlin would be good. with stops in cities like Leipzig and Dresden. Also Berlin is very cheap and it's a party city. you would love it.

I live there. so feel free to ask me questions.

Thanks for your reply. Thats a really good suggestion. 2 days hard of partying should be good enough. and then off to see other things. What do you do out in Germany?
