Yeah it totally depends where you're going. If you're going out of country, you definitely stand a good chance of being stopped by customs and asked for a waiver or some sort of permission from your parents.

well, im kind of done with how my life is going now (not that its going bad or anything, i just dont feel like this is the place i should be right now... probably sounds very childish) and I want to go somewhere, and just explore. I was thinking southeast asia, or lower into the pacific islands. I was just wondering if they would stop me at customs and i would waste a whole bunch of money on a ticket for nothing. So far ive had 2 no and 1 yes answer. Please any info would help, not just on customs either, but any tips like a good place to start at, or where not to go. Im information hungry because the more i know, the less scary and completley ridiculous i seem to myself

That'd definitely be the priority before travelling :)

a good place to look for travelling rules would maybe be the website for the consulate of the country you wish to go to, and/or the airline you wish to fly.

I do believe however that underage travellers need to have proof of parental consent in order to leave the country

im not out of high school yet, my high school is a joke. over crowded by hundreds, with the majority of the staff being more than ignorant. I was originally planning to wait till i was done highschool, but life changes right. I don't think ill need an A in math when im travelling, even if i somehow manage to remember it. Right now im learning alot more junk then I am useful information, wouldnt it be better to learn useful information, even if i have to learn it the hard way?

Naaa the reality is - You need a high school diploma to do anything. Sure it's not exactly going to do something when you're travelling. And it's going to be a major pain in the ass to have to do later when you need a job.

Trust me :)

Wait two years, save some money, and when you're out of school take off and do some travelling. That's what I did, and I haven't really stopped yet.

Additionally, if you don't have your high school diploma, and you go abroad looking for petty work to fund yourself along the way, you'll find one of two scenarios (1) you'll be so underpaid, because you are so young that it won't be worth it and you'll most likely be working illegally in that event and could end up in serious trouble; or (2) you won't get a job because there are so many gap year students out there looking for the same 'spot' work, and with their high school diploma in hand, they're much more employable than someone who doesn't have one.....
