Moonlighting 457

Post Thu Mar 04, 2010 4:02 am

I'm LovemyCats spouse and I'm wondering something about the 457 too.
Can the person who has the 457 moonlight?
I'm the one who is sponsored, and as exciting as my current gig is, it's getting routine. I've always had two programming jobs at the same time, one full time, and one casual. 60hrs just seems the right amount of hours.
Can I do the same while I'm on the 457, or do I have to find hobbies not related to programming? Ugg.

"PRIMARY VISA HOLDER VISA CONDITIONS - WORK LIMITATIONS:
A condition on Subclass 457 visas for primary visa holders is that they must not:
- cease to be employed by the employer; or
- work in a position or occupation inconsistent with the approved position or occupation; or
- engage in work for another person or for themself whilst working for the sponsoring employer."

So based on the last point there, I would say no, you cannot moonlight.

This is, as I thought.
I had hopes..
I wonder if volunteer work falls under that. I doubt it. That should quench my thirst.
Thanks for the response.
