Move To USA From Canada Due To Medical Condition

Post Wed Jan 11, 2012 2:06 pm

Hi to make a long story short. My 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with cold urticaria (Allergic to cold air/water/food etc) And we live in Toronto Ontario CANADA. Our winters are too bad for her and she is confined to the house, when it gets too cold she cant even go from the house to the car without badly reacting to the cold. Therefore my husband and I are looking into relocating to south united states during winters. The only problem is we would need to find work while we are there for the winters and want to know what has to be done to get a working visa based on our daughter health condition. My daughter does NOT need any medical treatments she just needs to be away from the cold weather.

IF ANYONE COULD PLEASE ADVISE US ON WHAT WE CAN AND SHOULD DO IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THANK YOU

You might have to consult a US immig lawyer.

There is no status in the US that would grant you working visa based on child's medical condition.

Unless one or both of you possess a professional skill and finds a US employer to sponsor you, one of you will have to stay back in canada and work while the other accompanies the child to US -- as a tourist.

Note that toursists cannot go to public school in US either.

You may have to try another country. Maybe one that NEVER gets cold, since if this is a life-threatening situation (which would be the only basis for granting some sort of compasionate visa), most places in 48 states get 'cold' at some point in the winter.
