We are about to move to North Carolina from Toronto. I was going to us either ABF U-Pack or CanAmerican Van Lines to move our belongings. ABF may not have a big enough truck for us and although CanAm SEEMS to have great service at a reasonable price, I read horrible on-line from previous customers. Problem is there only seem to be a handful of firms that haven't been given the thumbs down and that handful is pretty darn expensive.

Any suggestions on good cross border movers?
Urgently need some advice.
Hugs thanks in advance.

When I moved I used Allied Van Lines. They were great, and they knew what they were doing.

Yeah, I used them too, the only mistake they made was leaving the container outside in -20 which ruined some of my stuff.

I moved in October, I didn't have that problem. Although they did drop my TV and break it, they sent me a cheque for replacement cost.

Get the insurance!

We had 3 agents from Mayflower, Allied and United coming to see us. I personnaly prefered United. But I am not the one paying. Good news is, the company did choose United. However it would not have bothered me too mch to go with the others.

I used Rays Moving and they were awesome. It was a company move within Canada but I am certain that they do international.I think with United but not sure.they were fast and efficient. My move was absolutely stress-free. Best of Luck to you.

Thanks everyone! We are now in Charlotte. We used ABF U-Pack because they were about 45% less expensive than the big guys. They just drop off the truck, you load, provide them with a list of your goods, fill out a form for the border and give them copies of your passports, green cards, etc. (Loading was not fun, but you do what you gotta do!) - We still have to meet the truck here and that is when customs will go through everything. (The border crossing it pretty much just a cursory check.) - So we have one step left in the moving process, but so far so good. - Everyone at U-Pack has been pleasant and helpful. Truck arrvied early. Driver arrived early to pick the full truck up. what a pleasant surprise - great customer service. Imagine that!
